Spruce decking is the most economical choice of decking material. Commonly referred to as paint grade due to it not receiving any prior treatment (like treated wood). Its also very receptive to both Latex and Oil based paints, and stains. Spruce decking should only be used in areas above ground by a minimum of 2ft, due to its susceptibility to mold, and other moisture damage. Even in this case, adequate ventilation is required.
